There are two main types of SEO.

  • On-page SEO 
  • Off-page SEO

On-page SEO 

In this, SEO process is carried out inside the website. Optimization is done in the webpages of website. 

Off-page page - In off page, SEO process is done outside the website. By Off page SEO, we can make a website in the top listed.

Snippet - When a user gives a particular search,  Google list the pages.  In the listing, it shows URL, title, meta description . This information in listing page is known as snippet.

Favicon - It is a small icon found near the URL of the website in the listing pages.

Title Optimization

In title description, the below mentioned should be followed.

  • Avoid spelling mistakes
  • Don't use full capital and small letters
  • Total character limits - 55-60 characters.
  • Pixel width - 512
  • Unique and relevant
  • 3 or more catchy words.

Google use a tool called search console to find out the duplicate title and meta description.
Search console is a tool that check the performance, errors, duplicates and issues.

Cannabilism is a term referred to duplication of title or keyword in the webpages. If we same keyword used in the webpages, then our page rank will be effected.

Meta description 

 It is a short description mentioned in the snippet with 155-160 characters. It gives a glimpse to the google and the user about the website meant for and accordingly Google will place our website. It should be unique and relevant. It has 1024 pixel width.


Robot metatag. It gives instruction given to the bot  to index or follow the page.
 Syntax: <meta name="robots" content ="index", follow"/>

About CTR - CTR is click/impression in an ad or website.

no ODP : There will be a situation when we buy domain which was earlier used by any entity. In that situation, Google will consider the older domain and list accordingly. This will affect current business domain website to list in appropriate  position. To avoid this, we use no odp - "open directory projects". 

Syntax- <meta name="robots" content= "noodp" 

Google will not consider the older domain and it list our domain.

Body Section optimization

This is the section in the website which is visible to a user . 

Heading tag (h1 to h6)optimization - h1 tag is the major heading given to the webpage.

  • 7 to 8 words are used
  • Focusing keywords should be used
  • One h1 tag to be used
  • Use simple language 

Sub Heading (h2) tag - It is the subheading given to the webpages. Two h2 tags can be used. we can mention till h6 tags depending upon the importance of the content mentioned in a webpage.

Sandbox - When Google crawls a new website or a webpage, it can't make out the website with confusing and contrasting heading or title, in that case, google saves the webpage or website into a temporary database.

Anchor text optimization

Anchor tags are used to give hyperlinks in any content. User can click in the link. The text used in the anchor tags are called anchor text. The main advantage of Anchor text, it boosts the crawling process. Focusing keyword should not be used as anchor text.

Keyword optimization

Keyword density - The number of keywords used in the content is known as keyword density. For eg: In 100 words,  if we use 5times the keywords, then 5% is the keyword density. 

Image optimization protocols

  • File name has to give which is inline to the image
  • alt-name = filename
  • Content related images should be used
  • Don't use space in filename. Instead use "-"
  • Image types to be used - jpeg or png

images/onpage-seo.jpeg - It is the path or source where the image is stored in computer or related data storage.
