the practice of optimizing a website's content and structure to increase its

traffic to their website and improve their online presence.

History of SEO

 Larry Page and
Sergey Brin are the founders of Google, and they developed Google's search
algorithm to prioritize website relevance and user experience.

SEO
In the early 1990’s, when we do a google search, it takes
24 hours for google to revert back to the user and user has to get the
information through email.

During the attack of world trade center, Google was not able to provide the information about the attacks to the users accurately. This was a drawback faced by Google.

The major SEO
steps mentioned as below:

1.
Crawling – It is the process to scan the
webpage with the help of programs known as Google Bot, Spiders etc.

2.
Caching – It takes the snapshot of the webpage
and save to the particular database according to its category.

3.
Indexing – It helps in listing the webpages and provide information to the users according to their search.

Evolution of SEO

Google emphasised below methods

1.
Content Specific: Google allow us to enter as
much keywords. Major issues faced are over usage of keywords called “keyword
stuffing”
. This results in failure of user satisfaction.

There are two types of SEO practises

a.
Ethical practice (White hat)

b.
Unethical practice (Black hat)

2.
Link Specific –  Google then specifies a "link specific" technique. In this, website with more links is reachable to more users and the website is top listed.  The major drawback was the website owners start to sell the links to the other similar websites.  (Unethical Practice)

3.
Quality link specific – Google gives a website a trusted value based on the links and the value is called page rank. The page rank is given out of 10.  In this approach,
website with more page rank sell their links to similar website for money. To avoid this situation, Google came out with
“passing the juice”. Here if the website with top page rank sell their links, page rank goes down and value gets reduced. This reduced value is called link juice. But in some situation, we have to mention the links, google then  introduced a
“no follow tag” to tackle the situation. In "no follow tag" mechanism, we can mention the link in hyperlink , and there will be no equity passing mentioned as below.

 <a href = "link path"  rel = "no follow" > alt  < /a>

In 2013 Google entered in advertisement sector. The major two advertisement programs are Google Ads and Google AdSense.

  1.  Google Ad sense -  If a blog has a content quality, good
traffic, we can run the ads, this service given by Google is know as Google AdSense.
  2. Google Ads - Google Ads is an online advertisement service built by Google which helps the various business to promote their products. We can display our ads in different platforms of Google
Personalised ads are the advertisements shown to us according to the user interests,
search keywords, voice search etc.
In 2010 social media had a great influence in website ranking. Major audience started to use social media platforms which give better results for the website ranking.

Bounce rate – If a user visits a website and
exit the page quickly without any interactions is defined as bounce rate.  Website with more bounce rate likely to go
down in the listing pages. Google list the page with less bounce rate in top rank based on the user visit compared between two or more similar websites and that is
called as pogo sticking.
